Coconut oil production
Pure coconut oil is the base of our Pacific Spirit body care products.
Pacific Spirit coconut oil is produced using a special method, Direct Micro Expelling (DME) and is the base of Pacific Spirit's high quality body care products.
DME stands for
This method has many advantages when compared to other methods:
DME allows the cold-pressed production of pure, organic, extra virgin, coconut oil which has a long shelf life and is unrefined.
The oil is clear or slightly cloudy and liquid above 27 ºC. When it cools down, white pearls are formed and the oil starts to solidify. Below 22 ºC it is in white, solid form. Just place it in warm water to return the oil to liquid form.
The oil offers many applications. For example as moisturizing cream, massage oil or hair conditioner; it is almost unbeatable.
The international accredited organisation IFOAM (NASAA) certified the oil as "organic". It was grown without artificial fertilizers or pesticides.

Pacific Spirit coconut oil is produced using a special method, Direct Micro Expelling (DME) and is the base of Pacific Spirit's high quality body care products.
DME stands for
- Direct - quick - pure oil within one hour of opening a coconut
- Micro - small scale (family farm size) possible
- Expelling - extraction of the Extra Virgin Coconut Oil
This method has many advantages when compared to other methods:
- The oil production is carried out in rural areas rather than in the city. Small communities and families in remote areas have opportunities to gain income for their livelihood.
- The method is easy to learn. The fresh coconut flesh is extracted from the shell and dried on a special dryer. The coconut oil is then later hand pressed from the dried flesh.
- The process can be carried out by women and men and not under factory conditions
